Official Languages (Amendment) Act 2021
The Official Languages (Amendment) Act 2021 was signed into law on 22 December 2021. This new legislation is a strengthening of the Official Languages Act 2003 and is designed to make a significant contribution to the quality of services provided to the public by State bodies through Irish.

Main provisions of the new Act

The National Plan for the Irish language sets out the following key provisions:
• That 20% of recruits to be competent in Irish by 2030
• The establishment of New Standards (Section 19) in relation to Interactive Services • To implement new obligations in relation to advertising under section 10 A of the Act.
• To report on performance of obligations under Act (4B)
• Irish language names address etc Sections 9A (1) & Section 9A (4)
