Cork City Council Irish Language Action Plan 2026-2029
Action Plan for Irish Language Public Services 2026-2028 On 20th January 2026, the Minister Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary published the Action Plan for Irish Language Public Services 2026-2028, which is reflected in Cork City Council’s current plan.
The Plan covers the following:

“ The goal of the Action Plan is to enable the normalisation of the Irish language as an integral part of the public service and empower speakers of the language to use it when accessing services. This Action Plan looks to take a holistic, measurable and practical approach to the implementation of the National Plan for Irish Language Public Services 2024-2030, which was published in October 2024”.

The plan also has a stated aspiration to roll out the Gaeilge365 language innovation programme in all local authorities across the country in line with Programme for Government commitments.
