Cork Celebrates Lifelong Learning Awards This Lifelong Learning Awards scheme was established in 2021 to provide a platform to acknowledge all the wonderful and inspirational projects and individuals committed to lifelong learning across Cork. The awards provide an opportunity for the people of Cork to nominate individuals, projects and initiatives that have inspired them by their innovation, Inclusion and endeavour through their Lifelong Learning actions. The 2022 Cork Celebrates Lifelong Learning Awards took place on the 29th of November 2022 as part of an Exchange Programme visit by the Irish Network of Learning Cities. Over 60 individuals, organisations, schools, teachers, learners and groups were nominated across 10 different categories. In 2022, special consideration was given in the judging process to individual candidates who have overcome significant social, economic, or educational barriers in realising their full learning potential. Deputy Lord Mayor Cllr. Damian Boylan, as Festival Patron, was in attendance at the ceremony to present nominees with their Awards and to recognise and celebrate the impact of the efforts of all nominees.

The extensive set of Award categories are designed to highlight the wide range of lifelong learning initiatives and individuals across Cork, as follows; Early Years Primary Level Secondary Level Youth in Community Higher Education Further Education Community Adult Education Workplace Learning Active Retired Exceptional Endeavor Inspirational Lifelong Learner All of the nominees in each category are listed on our ‘Roll of Honour’. In each category, there are shortlist Awards winners and one overall winner, selected by an experienced Judging panel drawn from Lifelong Learning partner organisations, and presented at the Award Ceremony. The Cork Celebrates Lifelong Learning Awards has been very warmly received by the people of Cork. The awards have been instrumental in highlighting the impact of a variety of individuals and organisations whose commitment to lifelong learning is powerful in so many ways. Through the Role of Honour the awards shine a positive light on the work of all nominees, and are a celebration of how lifelong learning enables people to improve life, work and community.
