How to read the South Docks Drainage Strategy map:
Cork City Council has prepared a South Docks Drainage and Levels Strategy (2022) to inform the development of the City Docks The objective of the Strategy is to provide a long-term placemaking vision that is flexible, environmentally responsible and climate-resilient, particularly to potential changes in sea level and rainfall intensity. For more information refer to Volume 1 Chapter 10, subchapter 2 - City Docks.
This drawing should be read in conjunction with the South Docks Drainage Strategy Report.
Notes: • The details of the proposed drainage and polder flood defence infrastructure are indicative and are subject to detailed design. • All design finished floor levels shall be informed by a Site-Specific Flood Risk Assessment in accordance with “The Planning System and Flood Risk Management Guidelines for Planning Authorities” (OPW/DoEHLG, 2009), undertaken by the Applicant at Development Management Stage.
• The proposed ground levels and finished floor levels have been developed on the assumption that the proposed polder flood defences are in place and provide protection to the 1 in 200.
