05.2 Traveller Culture Irish Travellers have their own distinct language (CANT), and display and take part in their own defined cultural values and beliefs. As identified in the Equality Authority’s Report on Traveller Ethnicity, the Traveller community is largely self- perpetuating. Irish Travellers ’ shared cultural features and behavior patterns distinguish them from other ethnic groups present in Ireland. Cork City Council have engaged in child-led art workshops where participants were invited to explore how their culture is reflected and their own sense of identity as part of ongoing efforts to support the welfare and wellbeing of the Traveller community.
