Health Impact Assessments (HIA): a process used to determine the impact of proposed policies, laws, programmes or plans on the health of communities to ensure they are more inclusive, more equitable, and more sustainable for everyone. Implementation Plan: A document that entails the steps required to facilitate the execution and implementation of a plan, idea, model, or policy by presenting clear implementation steps that need to follow. Indicator: A measurable and quantitative statistic which, when grouped over a time period, shows a trend. Inter-agency: Inter-agency co-operation or working is any joint action by two or more agencies that is intended to increase public value by their working together rather than separately. Intersectionality: Intersectionality describes overlapping or interdependent systems of discrimination related to age, disabilities, ethnicity, gender, geographic location, sex, socioeconomic status, sexuality, etc. Just Transition: term used to describe the transition to a climate neutral economy while securing the future and livelihoods of the workers and their communities.
Land Use Planning: A process for organising and managing land (and water) resources to achieve the most efficient use of land for specific goals such as sustainable development, compact urban growth and conservation. It involves a systematic assessment of current conditions, identifying appropriate land uses and implementing policies to guide future development taking into account social, economic and environmental factors. Local Electoral Area: A local electoral area is an electoral area for elections to local authorities in Ireland. The Republic of Ireland is divided into 166 LEAs, with an average population of 28,700 and average area of 423.3 square kilometres (163.4 sq mi). There are 5 LEAs in Cork City. LEAs are broken up into Electoral Divisions (EDs). There are 53 EDs in Cork City. Local Government Reform Act 2014: An act of the Oireachtas which provided for a major restructuring of local government in Ireland with effect from the 2014 local elections. Some of the major changes that came out of the Act include a reduction in the number of local authorities, the abolishment of town councils, replaced by Municipal Districts and changes to local authority structures, powers and governance such as city and county enterprise boards have been replaced by local enterprise offices within the local authorities. Low Carbon Economy: An economy that causes low levels of (Greenhouse Gas) GHG emissions compared with today’s carbon- intensive economy. Local Community Safety Partnership (LCSP): The Local Community Safety Partnership (LCSP) is a new government initiative which brings together community members, the voluntary and community sector, statutory services, and local councillors to work together in identifying and tackling community safety issues locally. They are due to be rolled out in Cork City in 2024.
