It usually involves notification (to publicise the matter to be consulted on), consultation (a two-way flow of information and opinion exchange) as well as participation (involving interest groups in the drafting of policy or legislation). Public Realm: The external places in our towns and cities that are accessible to all. The everyday spaces that we move through and linger within, the places where we live, work and play. Successful monitoring delivers timely and relevant information that allows you to make constructive adjustments that improve the implementation of the plan. Placemaking: Placemaking is an approach to urban planning and design that focuses on the people who use a space, rather than just the physical structures or buildings. ‘Placemaking inspires people to collectively reimagine and reinvent public spaces as the heart of every community’. Pobal Deprivation Index: The Pobal HP Deprivation Index uses data from Census 2022, analysing ten measures of an area’s levels of disadvantage. It includes the National Development Plan (NDP) and the National Planning Framework (NPF). Public Consultation: a regulatory process by which the public’s input on matters affecting them is sought. For example, setting the annual basic rate of the Local Property Tax by plus or minus 15%. Review: A part of the planning process to assess how well a project or initiative is being put in place. Reviews are a ‘snapshot’ in the life of a project or initiative. They tend to focus on:
