Household Composition Cork City Council has one of the largest shares of households without children in the country (24.4% vs. 23.1% State) , alongside Dublin City Council and Galway City Council. Almost 1 in 10 (9.3%) older people (over the age of 65) in Cork City, live alone compared to 8.4% nationally. Cork City has a higher share of households with unrelated people living in them (9.4% – nearly 10 out of 100) compared to the national average (5.4% – just over 5 out of 100).
