Maximise on our participation in the EU Missions Climate Neutral and SMART Cities Programme to enable Cork City to become one of Europe’s most sustainable and climate-friendly cities. Potential to develop a local green economy due to proximity to the sea. This could be done through offshore wind farms and tidal energy.
Strong Links

Utilise the strong inter-agency working across the community and voluntary sector in Cork City to develop collaborative co-working across all sectors. Create linkages between Cork City’s local enterprises and Cork City’s multinational base to develop mutually beneficial relationships and enhance our local economy.

Economy and Tourism

Further develop Cork City’s tourism sector to create economic and employment opportunities. Develop and promote Cork City as a city of welcome to attract newcomers and welcome diversity. Address the skills and labour shortages by attracting and employing migrant workers. This could be achieved by faster recognition of foreign qualifications and prior experience. Address the skills and labour shortages by increasing female labour force participation. This could be achieved by Increasing and improving access to localised and flexible childcare, providing more flexible, secure and higher paid work hours positions, and improving transport options.
