Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) – Not Diverse Enough
Climate-related Threats
A lack of diversification among the Cork City’s FDI base, terms of sector, could expose the local economy to risks related to:
Climate and biodiversity crisis causing rising sea levels, extreme weather events and biodiversity loss as well as increase climate caused migration and unjust transition.

macroeconomic trends in trade and investment such as inflation or income levels.
External Threats

policy changes in partner countries.
Global conflict, energy crisis and disruption to supply chains and will potentially cause disruption for citizens and businesses and will disproportionality impact Cork City’s vulnerable citizens.
Housing and Social Issues

Lack of housing supply which is hindering social, cultural, and economic growth. Addressing the needs of an ageing population. Increase in homophobic, transphobic and anti-immigration sentiment.
