Cork City’s Local Economic and Community Plan 2024 - 2029

Children and Young People We will prioritise and focus on opportunities to support and secure the wellbeing of children and young people in the city, especially those experiencing poverty and exclusion. UNICEF Child-friendly Status We will work to gain a UNICEF Child-friendly city status. CYPSC 5-year Strategy We will support the delivery of the new CYPSC 5-year strategy for Children and Young People. RAPID Areas We will make sure priority and focus stays on the RAPID areas across the city. We will focus on capacity building and service delivery through the RAPID Area Based Committee (ABC). Training Modules Together with the community and voluntary sector and public bodies providing public services, we will develop training modules on topics like: • Anti-racism • Cultural competency • Plain English • Creating a trauma-sensitive city Public Sector Duty We will promote the Public Sector Duty internally and externally.

Traveller Accommodation Plan We will support the development and implementation of the Traveller Accommodation Plan for Cork City. Single-parent Families We recognise in single-parent families the higher rates of: • Deprivation • Consistent poverty • Low and insecure employment • Homelessness We will support the community and voluntary sector to advocate for and support single-parent families so they can thrive. LGBTI+ Community We will support the LGBTI+ community and its strong, robust community and voluntary organisations. We will encourage policy development from a rights-based perspective across agencies. We will continue to support the work of the Cork LGBTI+ InterAgency and lead and encourage other cities across the island of Ireland to become members of the Rainbow Cities Network.

Disabled People/People with Disabilities

We recognise and will focus on the high level of support and resources needed to improve the quality of life, safety, and well-being of disabled people/people with disabilities. Support Groups We will support the work of the: • Cork City Disability Working Group • Cork Access Group

Disability Strategy We will develop a Disability Strategy

which enables accessibility, integration and inclusion. This strategy will recognise and

encourage ability, empowerment and independence in disabled people/ people with disabilities.
