Support Innovation – Forum, Partnership And Programmes

• Establish an innovation forum with stakeholders to develop and enhance the city’s ecosystem. (business environment).This forum (group) would focus on: • Research • Development • Commercialisation • Digitalisation in developing sectors of Energy and Food and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and extended reality (XR).
Better Port-City Centre M28 Connectivity To improve Port-City centre M28 connectivity to make sure there is rapid connection from the city to the harbour. Develop Other City Transport Systems Progress and develop future city transport systems through supporting the implementation of the Cork Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy: Bus Connects and Light Rail Transit (LRT). Use Technology And Digital Strategies To Aid Development • To explore the use of technology to collect data to aid decision making and delivery of key strategic and operational targets outlined in the annual workplan. • To explore the potential for EU funding for technology and digital strategies and related research and training.

• Support the development of the Cork Science and Innovation Park projects.
• Support entrepreneurial incubation and acceleration programmes.

Monitor Affordable Spaces For SMEs To monitor the availability of affordable office and industrial space for growing small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs). Support Creative Sector Cluster Development Support creative sector cluster development and delivery of affordable workspaces (for example, Makers Space, FabLab). Develop Social Enterprise To Support SMEs To develop and implement a best practice model of social enterprise to support SMEs in the city.

• Implement the digital strategy and assist roll out of digital infrastructure.

Sector Cluster Support Support sectoral cluster development. (A good example is Energy Cork which is an industry-led cluster organisation who represent and support large and small businesses to strengthen enterprise and employment in the energy sector in the greater Cork Region and managed by a full-time programme coordinator and governed by a membership steering group.)
