11.5 Case Study: Cork City Youth Forums Cork City Youth Forums were established to amplify the voices of young people more clearly. Drawing young people from schools and youth centres across the city, the youth forums give the young people of Cork City a space to talk and say what is on their mind. They also help them advocate for their rights. This means speaking about youth issues and acting on issues of concern to them and their communities.
Supported by Cork City Council, Cork City Partnership and their youth leaders and teachers, the young people have addressed issues related to:
By encouraging active-citizenship and ownership of solutions to issues, the youth forums foster entrepreneurship. They also engage young people directly in creating and sustaining safe, accessible and resilient communities.
