Building Typology
1.196 The original houses are built in a mix of brick, roughcast render and clay tile, with stone slate roofs and timber sash windows. Each house, though one of a pair, is symmetrically designed around a projecting canted central bay with front door at ground level and a tile-clad gable projecting from the main roof. 1.197 The houses by H. H. Hill on the south side are of more modest architectural expression but of comparable architectural quality. Also, two-storey with attic accommodation, they are roughcast with smooth plaster details, tile roofs, and with small- pane casement windows but with a modernist touch. A number of other houses have been added since which sit comfortably within the pattern set by the earlier phases of building.
1.198 The houses have been well-maintained and have generally been sympathetically upgraded but there has been some loss of original detailing on a num- ber of houses.
