ACA Turner’s Cross
3 bay, vernacular cottages which originally had long rear gardens. This area was the once rural market garden for the historic city as can be seen in the First Edition OS map. The area also includes the religious/ educational complex of the Bunscoil Chriost Rí in addition to the highly significant Modernist, Church of Christ the King.
Description of Area
1.235 Evergreen Street and Turners Cross are located in a southern suburb on the outskirts of the Georgian era Cork City on a relatively flat, raised area of ground overlooking the city. The Western side of the street is raised with limestone kerbed steps leading up from the road.
Building Typology
1.237 The building stock is characterised by early 19th century vernacular, rendered terraced dwellings. Typically 3 bay with central door opening onto the street. Pitched natural slate roofs, cast iron downpipes, rendered elevations with chimneys punctuating the plot divisions.

1.236 Turners Cross ACA is essentially a long historic street lined with predominantly single storey,
