Transformational Project: The Grand Parade Quarter 10.22 The redevelopment of the block bounded by Grand Parade, South Main Street, Christ Church Lane and the River Lee to the south, represents an opportunity to bring new life to the western end of the City Centre. Cork City Council will progress plans to develop a new city library and rejuvenate Bishop Lucey Park to open it up to the wider city.
It is intended to be an inclusive space of both active and passive recreation, while embracing its urban context as a soft green space for the city. It will also improve access and interconnectivity between Grand Parade and the planned Cork Events’ Centre to the west. Public realm works are also planned along Tuckey Street and South Main Street. This project will provide a mix of cultural activity, job creation and housing, bolstering the attractiveness of the City Centre as a place to live, visit and invest in.
