CORK LEARNING CITY

The Irish Network of Learning Cities

The Irish Network of Learning Cities is an all-island network for support, inspiration, know-how and sharing good practice, based on the principles of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC). The members of the Network are Cork, Limerick, Belfast, Dublin, Derry-Strabane, Waterford and the Midlands to date. This Network of equal members was formed in 2018 and strengthened through a Memorandum of Understanding signed by City Mayors/Deputy Mayors in 2022 for a five year commitment, with Waterford’s Mayor adding his signature to the MOU in 2025. The Midlands Learning City Region are the most recent member to join following their successful application to join the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities in 2025. Progress:
