Establish a partnership comprising representatives from local government and retail, hospitality, business and transport sector to advance actions within the City Centre. • CORE Partnership established to draw together representatives from Cork Chamber, Cork Business Association, Bus Eireann and the retail, hospitality and business sectors. • CORE has helped deliver a number of initiatives in the city, including ‘Urban October’ the ‘Cork Cashes Out’ pilot and City Centre Forum. Designate a liaison to serve as an interface between Cork City Council and private sector actors, to broker relationships and help deliver events and interventions in the city. A City Centre Coordinator is now in place in the City Council. Investigate the viability and benefits of a Business Improvement District for Cork. • A BID has not been established for Cork City Centre. Following engagement with the private sector and the Council there is potential to further review. Engage with REI and leverage lessons learnt on city centre development from national and international best practice. • In 2018 Cork city hosted the annual congress of the Academy of Urbanism • In 2019 Cork City Centre Forum launched a Cork City Customer Service, first of its kind in Europe.. • In 2020 Cork City named Ireland Friendliest City at the REI Annual Awards.
