Progress clearly evident

Support retail and hospitality sector in organising events to attract large numbers of people to eat and shop in the city centre. • Cork City Council worked with the cultural attractions to develop a joint campaign the Playful Culture Trail • Recent years have seen a number of events and initiatives to promote retail and hospitality sector in Cork City. Annual events such as the Midsummer Festival, Film Festival and Jazz Festival are complimented with smaller-scale focused events such as Feel Good Friday, Long Table and Design POP. Ensure Cork City is clean and safe, implement measures around building painting, graffiti removal and building illumination. • Mad About Cork organisation and the 2020 Ardú have helped provide attractive street art throughout the city centre. • Exterior of public buildings, such as Cork City Hall, are illuminated to mark special occasions e.g. St. Patrick’s Day. • Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) Monitoring Report for 2020 saw Cork City status slip from clean to ‘moderately littered’. • In August 2021 CCC launched Air Quality Strategy 2021-2026 to reduce pollution and improve air quality within the city. • 2021 saw CityTrees installed at St. Patrick’s Street and Grand Parade. Develop business plan for the City Centre with costs and targets for new events and activities. Offer a loyalty card or special offers to target different audiences.
