Post collapse of the ship-building industry in the 1990s Malmö focused on past strengths in engineering and design to attract sustainable –minded young professional families back to the city.

To stem emigration of young professionals due to unaffordable cost of living, the Tel Aviv government focused on creating a city that would foster growth of start- ups and business to help young professionals thrive. Changwon, leveraged the city’s history to target new generations of painters, potters, sculptors and poets to build a city which is known for it’s authenticity and is a workspace for hundreds of artists from around the globe.
