The Inaugural Cork Learning City Award was presented to the Cork Migrant Centre leaders of the Youth Against Racism Initiative. Cork Learning Neighbourhoods jointly presented a Seminar with Limerick Learning Neighbourhoods. Virtual Launch of Atlantic Currents, new book featuring writers from Cork and from Lowell, USA. Writer including Cónal Creedon, and Irish Ambassador to the United States Dan Mulhall. Cork hosts UNESCO Global Learning City Webinar Dec 3 rd and 4 th
Cork as lead city of a UNESCO global network hosted a two-day Webinar on Health and Wellbeing called ‘Learning For Wellbeing 2020 – supporting resilience in Learning Cities’ in December 2020. Speakers included UNESCO, WHO, an Taoiseach Micheál Martin, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney. The Cork Learning City team worked closely with the Community and IT teams to plan, develop and successfully deliver a complex programme over two days featuring inputs from 12 cities including cities from Korea, Australia, Egypt, Hungary, France, UK, Northern Ireland, the USA and Colombia. The outcome report will feature in the UNESCO 5th International Conference on Learning Cities to be hosted by Korea in October 2021.
