The preliminary public consultation on the City Development Plan 2022-2028 commenced on 26 June 2020 and continued until 21 August 2020. The initial stage was a high-level discussion around what are the key issues for growing Cork City. The discussion document ‘Our City – Our Future’ (Issues Paper) was available to view on www.corkcitydevelopmentplan.ie, submissions were also made online at the city council’s online consultation portal. Almost 400 submissions were received. The draft plan is currently being prepared and will go to public consultation in the summer of 2021. In light of the Covid-19 restrictions, a number of new other consultation mechanisms were used such as Meet the Planner, a Public Opinion Survey, webinars such as Our City Our Future: Learning from International Experience, Our City Our Future: Addressing the Challenges, and a Young People’s photographic competition.
