Nano Nagle Place plans to develop a market and seeks support from Cork City Council. Such a market could also expand to Red Abbey Square and NNP would be open to working with Cork City Council to manage such events. The English Market / Princes Street / Parliament Street / Mary Street / Nano Nagle Place axis is key for Nano Nagle Place, Douglas Street and Cork City. Douglas Street Historical Area improvements.

The South Parish ACA designation supports the appropriate development of this area. It also supports the request for improvements to enhance the historic character of the area. Objective 8.21 sets out policy in relation to enabling development and it is considered that this objective addresses this matter, while Objective 8.26 sets out policy in relation to Historic Street Character Areas and it is considered that this objective would also help facilitate the issue raised in these submissions. This is also an operational matter which will be addressed under the development management planning process. Recommendation: No change.
