Enhancement of both the experience and the interpretation of these spaces, along with improved wayfinding will expand the city’s attracti veness to visitors • City Docks, Tivoli - The planning and delivery of City Docks must be multi-faceted and facilitate tourism infrastructure and projects in equal measure. Appropriate objectives should be included that outline the tourism potential of the area relating to the waterfront, the river, visitor attractions, a vibrant extension to the City Centre, etc.; • Cork International Airport: Amend section to refer to importance of Cork Airport in respect of international tourism should be set out in this section. • We request the inclusion of an objective supporting the preparation and implementation of Regional Tourism Plans in the City Development Plan, to support the continued collaboration with Fáilte Ireland and tourism stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and delivery of these tourism plans. • The scope of tourism policy should include: Accessible Tourism; Ireland’s Ancient East Wild Atlantic Way; Food Tourism; Business Tourism; Festivals and Events; Heritage and Cultural Tourism; Major Attractions; Fáilte Ireland Initiatives; Urban Tourism; Night Time Economy; Waterfront and Animation; City Accessibility; Visitor Accommodation; Tourism Amenities & Asset Maps; • New Objective: Continue to actively engage, invest, encourage and promote the developmen t of the Ireland’s Ancient East and Wild Atlantic Way brand through sustainable tourism, which will enable visitors to have enjoyable experiences while having regard for the social, cultural heritage and environmental impacts, including the protection of designated sites. • It is an objective of the Council to support the provision of accessible tourism (to people with mobility issues, people with learning disabilities, visual or hearing impairment, young children and elderly people); • Digitalisation: Encourage and support investment in digital technology in the tourism sector, with a particular focus on sectors such as visitor attractions and activities with low digital presence and/or integration. • Section 7. 31 Enhance Tourism – new objective: “Cork City Counc il will work with Fáilte Ireland and other relevant stakeholders to improve visitor orientation and wayfinding as identified in the Visitor Orientation Strategy and Action Plan for Cork City.” • Night- time economy: suggested objective for Chapter 10 (could be Chapter 11): Support proposals for development involving evening and late-night commercial, retail, cultural, food and beverage or entertainment uses within the City where it can be demonstrated that the development will enhance the character and function of the area; this may include extended opening hours, proposals for outdoor dining and event space, and proposals for the greater utilisation of existing heritage assets.

Summary of Submission and Observation:
• That the Council supports appropriate Native Tree Planting and adopts appropriate estate management practice that supports biodiversity and development of urban woodlands and wild areas. • – • Amend Objective 6.5: Trees and Urban Woodland to make specific reference to the extensive planting of native trees at the following locations; The Glen; Mahon Walkway; Caragheen River; and Lee Fields. • Leaf mold facilities should be provided around the City to receive leaves and provide fertiliser to the Parks Dept and the public; • CCC Estate Management Practice: increase wilding, only use native tree species, increase wild margins and stop the use of herbicides.
