Prioritise sufficient funding to improve existing stock and implement substantial works on existing road network.
• Support strategically important role of Cork Harbour for population and management.
• Futureproof infrastructure from climate change through flood protection and jobs growth
• Develop large-scale mixed use regeneration projects in Cork City and Tivoli docklands as integrated, sustainable developments including the provision of supporting infrastructure, to deliver compact metropolitan growth.
• Develop and support self-sustaining Urban Towns, Villages and Hinterland Settlements as areas of local services, residential and employment potential.
• Collaborate with partners to implement smart initiatives.
• Support delivery of right housing and tenure mix, renewal and revitalisation of urban towns and village centres, and urban growth at appropriate scale and density.
• Promote development of additional residential focused retail
• Accelerate delivery of Cork Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy
• Ensure Ireland’s long -term emission reduction obligations and wider environmental objectives are considered in making planning decisions for new developments and strategic infrastructure, and transition to a carbon neutral network by 2050.

Summary of Submission and Observation:
• Agrees with Section 10.212 which states the need for more leisure activities and accessible green space, these spaces are needed through out Ballincollig. • Notes the works done to improve the public realm and increase cycle and pedestrian infrastructure on Main street reflected in Section 10.214 and objective 10.56 and proposes the removal of all on street parking should form part of future plans. • Notes the lack of connectivity between cycle lanes between school areas and Main Street and Old Fort Road, seeks continuous cycle route through Ballincollig centre. • All public parking should be removed along the Main Street except for the necessary number of disabled spaces. Recommendation to re-do the cycle route in Ballincollig that provides a continuous and protected route. • Many of the schools in Ballincollig are at or over capacity and new schools are needed states that Maglin sites are preferable location for future schools site and will ideally promote more walking and cycling to schools.
