Children and Young People’s Service Committee Cork

Summary of Submission and Observation:

• Seeks continued and further engagement with children and young people in Cork, to develop a child friendly city, include indicative figures in 3.62 and broad definition under 2.29 for walkable neighbourhood. • Request that the needs of all children are specifically mentioned in the Plan • Continued engagement with CYPS to develop child friendly city • 3.62 include indicative figures for child population and likely number of children to arise from developments • 2.29 walkable neighbourhood to be expanded to include all persons.

• Supports increased building heights in the city, however community assets and green spaces must be delivered along these projects. • Suggested park on city northside, near Kent station. • Seeks improvements to cycle and pedestrian networks and to reduce car dominance in the city. • Seeks more ambitious targets to address climate change

Traveller Visibility Group

Summary of Submission and Observation:

• Ensure sufficient lands are zoned for traveller accommodation purposes for 2021 and beyond. • Seeks specific land use zoning type for the purpose of traveller accommodation • Object to dezoning of Elis Yard and Spring Lane Halting Sites • Include provision of nomad and transient sites • Model to facilitate development of private lands for traveller accommodation • Inclusion of numerical targets for traveller accommodation • Name horses and sulkies as alternative sustainable forms of transport • Request that a Human Rights and Equality Impact Assessment be undertaken on the Development Plan Response and Recommendation to issues located in (Located under relevant chapter in the CE Report):
