Chief Executive’s Report on Draft Plan Consultation

Volume 2 – Summary of Submissions Received

Fionn McGinley

Summary of Submission and Observation:

• Putting Blarney in the ACA would stifle all future development of the area for the betterment of the residents and create theme park Blarney which is the wrong idea. • Perhaps a counter suggestion is to protect the immediate Square area as this is indeed a heritage area but knocking derelict buildings for contemporary development should never be blocked. • Objects to Blarney ACA • Don’t prevent development of Blarney particularly on the derelict sites

Summary of Submission and Observation:

• This submission is in response to the Council’s draft zoning objectives for the south -western city suburban area, • specifically the lands off Model Farm Road, • between Ballincollig and the western city suburbs, • which will form part of the Cork City Development Plan 2022-2028 (see map). • Seeks the Council extend the ZO 03 (Tier 3) zoning to include the subject lands when finalizing the zoning provision for the area, in order to optimize the development potential of this strategic development area.

Michael Murphy

Summary of Submission and Observation:

• Oppose the proposal to change the designation of the site of the Blarney Park hotel to an ACA. It needs to be developed as a shopping centre with a budget supermarket. • Blarney and Tower residents need a supermarket development with affordable prices on this site. People without cars could walk to this shopping centre. Blarney residents have nowhere cheap to shop since suprevalu moved to Tower. • This site is on the correct side of blarney for people from tower and north along to come shopping without passing through blarney.
