Summary of Submission and Observation:
• This submission seeks that the Lee to Sea Greenway is included as a strategic objective in the Core Strategy, and to be identified as the Lee to Sea Greenway on the Core Strategy Map in fig 2.20. • The submission also includes a number of amendments to strengthen the wording of objectives in chapters 4 and 6 to support delivery and design of cycle infrastructure and play areas for children of all abilities, and lastly to include development standards for cargo bikes, electric bike/scooter charging and increased cycle parking. • To include the Lee to Sea as a Strategic Objective in the core Strategy • To amend the core strategy map, fig. 2.20, with ‘Lee to Sea Greenway’ not ‘Greenway’ • Include a specific objective to chapter 4 to support development and delivery of the Lee to Sea Greenway within the lifetime of this plan. • Amend wording of objective 4.4 to ‘Help design, deliver and fund’ • Amend Strategic Objective 4 & objectives 6.17, 6.18, 6.19, 6.20 adding ‘to identify, design, deliver and maintain formal and informal play areas for young people ages 0- 18 of all abilities’ • Include provisions for cargo bike parking, electric bike/scooter charging and increased parking standard in chapter 11. • Seeks further increase and roll out of pedestrianisation of city streets, citing the success of Oliver Plunkett Street and identifies Academy Street, St. Patrick Street, Paul Street, Cornmarket Street, Castle Street, North Main Street and Liberty Street. Additional cycle lanes could be delivered in the absence of vehicle use. • Non-material matters: to trial car free days in the city.
