This has commenced through the Cork Docklands to City Centre Road Improvement scheme proposes new road layouts and related public realm improvements to provide a high-quality environment for road users along the relevant routes between the Docklands and Cork City Centre. To facilitate greater movement of people it will be necessary to provide dedicated high quality sustainable transport infrastructure (for walking, cycling and public transport). This project seeks to enhance the vitality ofCook Street, Marlboro Street, Princes’ Street, Grafton Street and Rochford’s Lane centred around the built heritage, allocation of space (day and night-time), the use of coordinated high-quality materials and street furniture, improved lighting. greening and provision of age friendly passive seating and gathering places to rest and play while accessing or remaining in the street or space.
and a climate resilient new City-neighbourhood which builds on its unique site assets. The process has included significant public consultation with State agencies, higher education institutes, professional bodies, landowners, local interest groups and other key stakeholders. It has received overwhelming support to date and feedback received has been reflected in the design progression of various elements of the Framework Masterplan. €500 million funding has been approved under the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund (URDF) for various enabling works in the Docklands including new roads and road upgrades, bridges, parks, playing fields, flood defences, transportation systems and quayside amenities. The Framework Masterplan will set out the sequencing of the various projects, as well as set a planning framework for the Docklands for large-scale residential and other construction projects. The work programme is at an advantaged stage of the Framework Masterplan’s progression. It is envisaged that the Framework Masterplan will be completed in Q3, 2024. Cork City Council has appointed Indecon Economic Consultants prepare the Preliminary Business Case (PBC) for the provision of enabling infrastructure for the north and south Cork City Docklands in accordance with the requirements of the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform’s Public Spending Codes. The Cork Docklands Framework Masterplan and other recent Cork City Docklands studies and strategy documents will provide the basis for the economic and financial appraisals. [OBJECTIVE 10.22B] DEVELOPMENT OF ODLUMS BUILDINGS Cork City Council permitted a mixed-use development including the revitalisation of the Odlums Building under planning register references 21/40702 and 24/42613 in line with the requirements of this objective.

Cork City Council appointed a multi-disciplinary team in November 2022 to prepare the Cork Docklands Framework Masterplan setting out an updated vision for the City Docks. The 147 ha site is the largest brownfield regeneration site in the State and is capable of delivering up to 20% of the City’s future population up to 2040. The Framework Masterplan is outlining the key planning and urban design parameters to deliver up to 10,000 new homes, 25,000 new jobs, 5,000 m of Waterfront, 100+ acres of Parkland and 6 new schools.
