[ Cork City Development Plan 2022-2028, Section 15(2) Two-Year Progress Report ]
[OBJECTIVE 10.60] BALLINCOLLIG FRAMEWORK PLAN FOR THE LINK ROAD/ LEO MURPHY ROAD AREA This Framework Plan will propose an integrated land use and development objectives in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders including landowners, the National Transport Authority and Transport Infrastructure Ireland. Scoping and preparation of this plan will commence following final route selection for both the BusConnects and light rail projects which will play a significant role in the future development of this area.
[OBJECTIVE 10.65] STONEVIEW FRAMEWORK MASTERPLAN
Stoneview, situated 2 km northwest of Blarney town centre, has long been identified as a major residential expansion area for the town. It occupies a strategic position on the Dublin- Cork railway line and the development of a large site in close proximity to the suburban rail network offers a major opportunity to achieve both compact growth and high modal shift by providing new homes at a location where residents can gain easy access to high quality rail transport. While this is a longer-term project, preparatory scoping work commenced in 2023, including preliminary engagement with stakeholders into Q1, 2024. It is envisaged that this framework masterplan will be prepared within the lifetime of the City Development Plan.
BLARNEY
[OBJECTIVE 10.64] BLARNEY TOWN CENTRE FRAMEWORK MASTERPLAN The need to support the compact growth and development of Blarney East including the Ringwood Expansion Area as a strategic City consolidation and expansion area is identified in the Core Strategy. A collaborative Town Centre Health Check was recently undertaken between Cork City Council, UCC and the Heritage Council. Some of the findings of this health check will inform the Town Centre Framework Plan, which is currently at scoping stage and involves a multi- agency approach to the future development of Blarney Town Centre with the overall aim of supporting existing and planned communities in the existing village and wider catchment area. The key aim of this framework plan is to build on Blarney’s success as an international tourist destination while enhancing the lived experience of the town’s existing and future populations. Exploring a heritage led regeneration is key to consolidating and enhancing the future development of the village.
GLANMIRE
[OBJECTIVE 10.70] GLANMIRE TOWN CENTRE FRAMEWORK PLAN A Town Centre Health Check for Glanmire was published in February 2024. This baseline information will help inform future work in relation to the Framework Plan. See Objective 7.30 above in this report for further detail. It is envisaged that this framework masterplan will be prepared within the lifetime of the City Development Plan.
