CCC CDP 2022-2028 2 Year Progress Report

[ Cork City Development Plan 2022-2028, Section 15(2) Two-Year Progress Report ]

FARRANFERRIS

[OBJECTIVE 10.87] REDEVELOPMENT OF FARRANFERRIS This objective requires an agreed masterplan for the Farranferris lands before any development on these lands are considered. Further to interest to develop the remainder of the zoned lands for a school and for housing, Cork City Council continues to engage with the landowner in relation to the required masterplan.

HOLLYHILL

[OBJECTIVE 10.88] HOLLYHILL DISTRICT CENTRE

The Hollyhill District Centre remains a priority for Cork City Council. In order to facilitate its development and regeneration the district centre will be assessed and advanced in conjunction with the Kilmore Heights Neighbourhood Development Site and the Framework Plan for the North West Park, which is at tendering stage (see Objectives 10.91 and 10.100 below in this report), allowing for synergies between each project and benefitting the area in the most meaningful and impactful way.

MAHON

[OBJECTIVE 10.89] MAHON Permission was granted in Q4, 2023 for the construction of an office and hotel development at Jacob’s Island in Mahon. The former strategic housing development (SHD) system has now ended and seven applications remain outstanding, including a proposed scheme for 489 units in Jacobs Island and two residential schemes nearby at Bessboro for 280 units and 184 units respectively. There has been some churn in the retail offer in Mahon Point Shopping Centre, with House of Fraser and Sports Direct taking up occupancy in the former Debenhams unit in 2022. The implementation of the Cork City Council Libraries 2020-2024 Strategic Plan has been advanced in respect of a number of projects including the Blackrock Mahon Library. A Stage 1 application will be submitted in Q2, 2024 for a combined library and community centre facility.
