[ Cork City Development Plan 2022-2028, Section 15(2) Two-Year Progress Report ]
The City Centre (90%), the Southwest suburb (60%) and the Northwest suburb (57%) are all on track to meet or exceed their City Development Plan population growth targets up to 2028. Kerry Pike, Killeens and the City Hinterland have already exceeded their targets for 2028. City Docklands (5%), the Northeast suburb (-1%), Blarney (5%) and Upper Glanmire (-17%) are behind in reaching their 2028 targets.
90% population growth for the City Centre, means it is on track to meet the population growth target up to 2028.
Strategic Growth Area Review The Core Strategy Map (City Development Plan Figure 2.20) sets out the key strategic growth areas for the city during the plan period, including the consolidation of the City Centre, long term regeneration of City Docklands and Tivoli Docks and strategic expansion areas including Ballincollig, Glanmire and North Blackpool/Kilbarry.
