Check for Glanmire in March 2024 which identified the need for such a community and enterprise facility. The finalisation of the studies in Glanmire will be the basis for developing prototypes for the rollout of community and enterprise hubs in other parts of the City. Permission was granted for the Recreate Shandon Digital Hub in 2021 and a funding application was issued to Enterprise Ireland in March 2024. See Objective 7.4 for further detail in relation to neighbourhood community enterprise hubs. [OBJECTIVE 3.19] PLANNING FOR CHILDREN – ORIENTATED FACILITIES A pilot quantification tool (‘Child Yield Calculator’) for the estimated number of children which can be assumed for a given proposed development has been developed as part of the Docklands Framework Plan. This tool has broad application and is not limited to the docklands. This tool is still being refined and has the potential to be used to assess developments regarding childcare requirements for the entire city area.
[OBJECTIVE 3.13] RURAL GENERATED HOUSING
Cork City Council approved 11 applications for one-off houses in the rural hinterland. Of these, two have recorded a commencement date.
[OBJECTIVE 3.16] CITY-WIDE COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE AUDIT (CWCIA) Cork City Council will lead on a city-wide assessment of community infrastructure, assets, spaces and needs to inform planning and resource allocation to the sector. This is included as action number 5.2.3 in the Local Economic and Community Plan (LECP) 2023-2029 adopted in May 2024, and will be delivered in partnership with the Public Participation Network (PPN) and community associations. It is anticipated that the full assessment will be conducted by the end of Q1, 2025. The Cork City Arts and Cultural Needs Assessment Audit conducted in November 2023 has identified a total of 74 arts and cultural facilities, which will provide an additional layer of information for the City-Wide Community Infrastructure Audit.
[OBJECTIVE 3.17] COMMUNITY HUBS
Cork City Council remains committed to promoting the concept of community hubs that can be used for the purposes of supporting enterprise and recreation and, which are accessible by walking, cycling and public transport. Through funding secured through the Town and Village Renewal Scheme (TVRS), Cork City Council is currently funding studies looking at the feasibility of such hubs in Glanmire, following on from the publication of a Health
