[OBJECTIVE 3.21] CHILDCARE FACILITIES
Cork City Council has facilitated 12 permissions relating to childcare facilities within the monitoring period. The permissions can be differentiated as follows:
• 4 permissions are for new build childcare facilities; • 1 permission is for a facility within an existing building, accommodating a service that was displaced from another location; • 1 permission is for the extension of an existing facility; • 6 retention permissions of the existing childcare use, two of these are for temporary permissions (3 years and 10 years respectively). Subject to delivery, this will provide a total of 308 new childcare places, plus an additional unspecified number of childcare places on 550 square metres of new childcare development. A commencement notice has been issued for the one development for 107 places. All other permissions have yet to be realised.
