Some elements of the Cork Walking Strategy still require implementation, however other transport infrastructural projects such as BusConnects have required the delayed delivery of these measures (e.g. Wilton Roundabout, Ballyhooly Road, etc).
Completion of the Cork Walking Strategy recommendations.
The NTA in conjunction with Cork City Council, Cork County Council and Sustrans prepared the Walking and Cycling Index 2023 for the Cork metropolitan area.
Walkability Audit of Cork City involving all relevant stakeholders.
The BusConnect Sustainable Transport Corridors have included for the delivery of improvements to the walking network along each of the routes. There has been significant investment in public realm and footpath renewal in the city including projects on MacCurtain Street, Bishop Lucy Park and the Marina Promenade. The delivery of the new BusConnects network has included enhancements to pedestrian facilities particularly at new bus termini. The BusConnects sustainable transport corridors also include enhanced pedestrian access to bus stops.
Align the implementation of improvements to the walking network with the implementation of the BusConnects network.
Ongoing maintenance and renewal of footpaths, urban realm improvements and walking network provision.
A Cork Metropolitan wide programme of improvement of walking access to public transport.

The NTA has established a Park and Ride Office tasked with the design, planning and delivery of park and ride facilities. They are currently preparing a strategy to support the delivery of park and rides including those in Cork City.
Design, planning and land acquisition for all strategic park and rides.
As noted above the NTA are currently working on the strategy to support the delivery of a park and ride at Dunkettle.
Prioritise Park and Ride at Dunkettle.
The City Development Plan has included parking standards based on different parking zones.
Implement residential parking zones across city and metro towns.
The NTA are working on a nationwide programme of mobility hubs and it is envisaged that Cork City will benefit from the roll out of these mobility hubs. In addition, as part of the City Docklands Framework Masterplan, a study into the delivery of mobility hubs is currently being finalised.
