The Dunkettle Interchange has been substantially completed and free flow traffic movements are now in place on all arms of the interchange. A substantial proportion of the works associated with the CCMS have been implemented following the completion of the works on MacCurtain Street. The final elements of the Strategy will require further integration with the emerging BusConnects Sustainable Transport Corridors. The regional road network will be reviewed to ensure sustainable access to development lands.
Completion of the Dunkettle Interchange Upgrade to remove significant bottleneck on strategic network.

It is clear from the above review that there has been a substantial investment in Cork City with respect to the delivery of the key transport infrastructure projects as identified in the Cork Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy.
[OBJECTIVE 4.2] CITY CENTRE MOVEMENT STRATEGY
The Cork City Centre Movement Strategy (CCMS) aims to manage through traffic in the City Centre to encourage access by active and sustainable travel modes delivering a more vibrant city centre environment. The CCMS included 8 phases. To date Phases 1 to 5 have been substantially completed, however the delivery of the subsequent phases will be subject to a further review of transport network requirements in the city centre to improve the operational performance of bus services (i.e. BusConnects) by the National Transport Authority (NTA). Cork City Council will continue their engagement with the NTA in the formation of any revised traffic management plan for the city centre.
