Environment, Climate and Communications (DECC) and offered to community organisations to deliver climate action at the local level. This fund complements Cork City Council’s Community Climate Action Programme. Community Environment Action Fund This fund promotes sustainable development at a local level by funding small scale, non-profit environmental projects that make a significant difference in local communities. Cork City Heritage and Biodiversity Plan (2021- 2026) This plan calls for the development of policy and the planning and provision of green and blue infrastructure around the themes of water and flood defence, landscape and the harbour, climate change and the environment, people, community health and wellbeing, tourism culture leisure and recreation and, in particular, biodiversity. Home Energy Upgrade Office (HEUGO) The “HEUGO”, situated on Cork City’s Grand Parade beside Bishop Lucey Park, offers the public information on energy efficiency upgrades that can be achieved with the intention of reducing their carbon emissions. The office is funded by two EU projects with Cork City Council as the project developer. Cork City Council Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Infrastructure Strategy This strategy was adopted by Council on 4th June 2024. The Cork City Development Plan has clear objectives to support the transition from traditional fuel sources to more sustainable fuel sources including supporting the provision of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles on- street, within car parks and in new developments. The Strategy provides the framework to deliver the necessary publicly accessible EV charging infrastructure to allow for the targeted uptake in EVs in Cork City as envisaged under the national Climate Action Plan. The strategy identifies 244 neighbourhood charging stations and 65 community charging stations, each with capacity to charge several cars simultaneously,to be delivered by 2030.
