Building Typologies Five main building typologies are identified, each in its own right contributing to the character of the subject area. All typologies share a restrained palette of materials, with render, stone and red brick facades and tiles roofs. The scale and proportion of openings and plot widths contribute to the urban scale of the area. The typologies are not limited to the locations noted- for example, there are several substantial 18th century houses on Blarney Street which have similar qualities to the terraces along the quays.
