Further funding has been approved by the DHLGH for the construction of new housing units located at Bramble Cottages (4 units), Errigal Heights (28 units) & Madonna House (6 units), and the three projects have Part 8 planning approval in place and are progressing to the next stage approval. A 3-unit development at Glenamoy Lawn and a 1-unit development at Kerry Road also have Part 8 planning approval in place and are also progressing to next stage approval. In addition, a 64-unit development at Poulavone, is progressing to the tender process in March 2022. Two further projects have funding approved by the DHLGH at Cloverhill Court and Westside under an innovative Volumetric/Offsite Construction delivery solution and are at pre-Part 8 application stage. Funding has been approved by the DHLGH for the construction of new housing units located at Foyle Avenue (2 units) and 7-unit development in Hollywood Estate. Foyle Avenue has been tendered and Stage 4 submitted to the department. Hollywood Estate has Part 8 approval in place and is moving to tender stage. A development at An Choilleog, Blarney, of 18 new homes, has also been handed over to Cork City Council from Cork County Council, providing a number of suitable homes for both general need and special need, including provision of bungalows. Rightsizing: The City Council, in recognition of a changing demographic, is developing a strong programme of delivery in its Rightsizing Initiative. The award-winning complex at Arus Mhuire (30 homes) is a designated older persons’ complex, housing homeowners looking to downsize and transfers for elderly tenants requiring more suitable accommodation. Tuath are managing the complex for Cork City Council. The project won an award at the ICSH Community Housing Awards under the “Housing for Older People, Large Project” Category and most recently in November 2019 won a Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Award in the Local Authority Innovation Category. Similar schemes are now under construction at Springville House, Blackrock Road, (35 homes), Sunview, South Douglas Road (25 homes) and Hawkes Road (24 homes). Further turnkey developments have been delivered recently at Ard na Ri Banduff (20 new homes), and under Part V at Ballinglanna (16 homes) and Lehenaghmore Togher (50 homes). Affordable Housing: Cork City Council is advancing a programme of delivery of affordable housing which can be summarised as follows: Boherboy Road - Serviced Sites Funding has been obtained from the DHLGH for the provision of affordable housing on this site which is proposed to deliver a total of 153 homes, comprising 116 affordable homes and 37 apartments for social housing. The procurement process for detailed design and construction of the scheme has been completed and construction commenced in late 2019. Phase 1A, comprising of 17 units shortly due to be substantially complete, with remaining units delivered thereafter on a phased basis. Middle Glanmire Road – a mixed tenure development of 54 homes has commenced construction in April 2021, which will deliver 27 affordable homes and 27 social homes (which will be owned and managed by Tuath Housing). Hawkes Road, Bishopstown – A further mixed tenure development of 64 homes has commenced construction, which will deliver a total of 35 homes for affordable housing, and 29 homes for social housing (of which 24 homes will be reserved for Rightsizing). Phase 1D East – Knocknaheeny: O Cualann Housing Co-operative has obtained planning permission for 17 affordable homes. Enabling utility diversion works are due to commence in Q1 2022.
