Open Day at Elizabeth Fort Garrison & Parade Houses Enjoy an Open House event and self-guided tour with the Irish Landmark Trust at Elizabeth Fort Garrison. Open Day and tour of the YMCA Heritage Buildings Visit the only youth centre in the heart of Cork City. For over 130 years, YMCA has connected people together, lending a helping hand to those who have needed it the most. 12pm to 4pm, YMCA Cork, 11/12 Malboro Street. Sunday’s Well historical walking tour with Cllr. Kieran McCarthy Discover the original well and the 18th century origins of the suburb. 1.30pm, meet at St. Vincents Bridge, North Mall end. Nano Nagle Place Bee’s Honey and Wax and the Saints in early Ireland: Talk with Shane Lehane Enjoy an enriching and captivating talk with local folklorist Shane Lehane.

A display of unique record covers, come along and see if you recognize any of the local gramophone record shops from times past. This is a historical look at music stores of the past in Cork and further afield. A must for music enthusiasts and historians.

The role of the amateur dramatic movement in Cork City after the Civil War 1923-1930. Raising the Curtain on Cork City’s Amateur Dramatic Heritage. Members of “The Loft” will provide a short performance to celebrate the centenary of the group and Dr. Fiona Brennan, Theatre Historian, and Independent Researcher, will give a talk on the exhibition.

Aspects of the Great War of 1914-1918 by the Cork Branch of The Western Front Association A display of artefacts of the Great War and information panels. On both Saturday 17 and 25 August, members of the Cork Branch will host a research facility that will enable members of the public to find information about an ancestor who served in the armed forces of the Allied nations during the war.
