Exhibitions taking place in Cork City Libraries during Heritage Week

The City Library

All Week

As part of the Basant Kite Flying Festival 2025, this travelling exhibition showcases the work of South Asian artists in Ireland. Featuring artists Aditya Labhe, Iqra Iqbal, Hina Khan, Antonio D’Souza, and Amna Walayat, the exhibition explores themes of culture, migration, and identity, celebrating South Asian contributions to Ireland’s contemporary art scene.

The Traditional Lacemakers of Ireland 20 years Celebrations Step into a world of intricate beauty and heritage at the Irish Lace Exhibition , where each delicate stitch tells a story of craftsmanship, culture, and resilience. This carefully curated display showcases the timeless artistry of Irish lace-making – from the fine, floral Carrickmacross lace to the bold patterns of Clones lace and the ethereal webs of Limerick lace.

Cork Rocks for Rory! A celebration of all things Rory Gallagher, we will have a series of exhibition boards that will portray Rory’s life from the early years on and a display of his much-loved crime novels. Cork City library will also host an exhibition of images from the 2 graphic novels featuring Rory, Kickback City and Prince Valiant.

Myths and Legends from Around the World Escape into a world of myth and legend, heroes, monsters, fairies, and dragons. Climb inside the wooden horse of Troy, enter the halls of Valhalla, explore the lost city of Atlantis. Earth spanning adventures for readers of all ages!

‘Mary Elmes: I got things done’ is a Cork City Libraries exhibition that documents the life of Mary Elmes, an Irish aid worker credited with saving the lives of at least 200 Jewish children at various times during the Holocaust, by hiding them in the back of her car. The exhibition will be on display in our Gallery throughout August and September.
