Cork is made up of the Cork Metropolitan area of Cork City and Cork County. Cork City is the second largest City in the Country covering an area of 187km 2 and a population of 210,000. Cork City is home to a number of significant destinations including Munster Technical University, University College Cork, Cork University Hospital which greatly increases the population and use of transport network from time to time. County Cork covers an area of 7,232 KM squared and has a population of 333,000 making it the second most populous county in the state. Cork County Council is the largest rural Local Authority in the Country. It accounts for the largest Km’s of road network in the Country. There are 8 Municipal Districts and Carrigaline is classified as the largest town with a population of 15,770 according to the 2017 census.
