IRISH GRAIN TO SOURDOUGH BREAD WORKSHOP AND TASTINGS

Dr. Fanny Leenhardt-Cohalan and wellbread.ie at Callanan's bar, Georges's quay

2.00pm - 4.00pm

Learn how to bake the most nutritious and tasty sourdough bread with Irish-grown heritage flour. In this workshop you'll learn about heritage wheat varieties and see samples freshly harvested just 15km from Cork city! You'll be shown techniques to make natural, sourdough bread that is not only delicious but also gut friendly and packed with the nutritional components of the grain. You'll taste a selection of sourdough loaves and wholemeal rye crackers and leave with some dough to bake at home. “Tapas on the Terrace” takes place from 2-6pm each day of the festival, in association with Bertha's Gin. Enjoy a Summer Gin (a local gin, distilled at Ballyvolane House, Castlelyons) with a choice of locally sourced Cornstore Tapas. Jive down to Harley Street in the VQ, just beside the Metropole Hotel for a jazz themed BBQ and cocktails, with margaritas, spicy homemade burgers, tacos, coffees, and organic biodynamic wines from MacCurtain Street Wine Cellar, while you listen to jazz latin music with The Underskore Orchestra. The Bookshelf at the Elysian is opening late to host a one-off 4-course dinner experience for the Festival, with a specially created menu filled with produce and drinks from the region. There will be Mead food pairing with Kinsale Mead included within the price.
