Strategic & Economic Development Planning Policy City Development Plan

As part of the preparation of a Green and Blue Infrastructure (GBI) Study currently being prepared by the Planning Policy section and LUC/Tobin consultants, three separate workshops were held on the 15 th , 16 th and 17 th of December. Each two hour workshop engaged with a range of key stakeholders via a 'virtual whiteboard' (www://miro.com) to inform, interact and gain valuable feedback around the how the following study themes apply to Cork City’s current and future GBI network:

• Workshop 1: Landscape and the Harbour, Tourism and Economic Value • Workshop 2 - Biodiversity, the Water Environment and Climate Change • Workshop 3 - Access & Connectivity, People and Communities, Health & Wellbeing

A wide range of more than 50 stakeholders (e.g. Irish Water, PoCC, LAWPRO, NTA, CEF, etc) participated in these workshops and the outputs are providing us, and our consultants, with valuable new information to inform both the evidenced based approach and overall study and its findings.

Cork City Development Plan Input Studies

The Planning Policy Section has appointed consultants to prepare key development input studies and these are currently underway. Studies include:

• the Joint Housing Need and Demand Assessment and Housing Strategy; • the Joint Retail Strategy; • Cork City Urban Density, Building Height and Tall Building Study; • Green and Blue Infrastructure Strategy; • Active Recreational Infrastructure Study; and • Strategic Employment Lands Study.

City Docks Drainage Strategy

Cork City Council has almost completed this key City Docks input study to define the area’ s flood defence strategy, drainage strategy ground plane levels strategy and landscape requirements for the public realm strategy. When completed the Council will seek to integrate the recommendations from the study into the planning strategy for the City Docks to be incorporated into the draft Cork City Development Plan. The strategy has been prepared by consultants on behalf of the Council since October 2019.
