UNIC - a new three-year Erasmus Plus project on developing city-university relationships through the prism of social inclusion got underway in early October. Community, Culture & Placemaking will provide crucial support to UCC’s efforts to widen the influence of marginalised local communities on Higher Education teaching and learning. This ties in with the UNESCO Learning City designation and the Learning Neighbourhoods concept. Town and Village Improvements Main Scheme 2021 . An application was made for funding for Blarney; Glanmire & Upper Glanmire for funding under the scheme. €100k was applied in each case for public realm improvement works. A final decision is expected from the Department of Rural and Community Development by end of Q4 2020.

City Centre Winterproofing With the support of the National Transport Authority (NTA), an Outdoor Seating Area Weatherproofing Fund was established to help traders with the investment required to ensure they can offer an alfresco dining experience through the autumn and winter.
