Strategic & Economic Development Conservation and Heritage Unit Urban Orienteering Route

The public competition for the illustration of the Urban Orienteering Checkpoints for Shandon received 74 entries The project was very warmly received and saw great interest on Culture Night at the Shandon Art Studios and according to local business people was a great talking point over the month of September. 5 winners were chosen and the Urban Orienteering Route through Shandon will be launched in November.

Cork Heritage Open Day Analysis

The event was very popular with nearly 3,000 visits to the site during heritage week with 1,338 people visiting the site on August 15 th (Cork Heritage Open Day) Facebook posts were seen by 55,960 people, Tweets were seen 120,570 times and Instagram posts were seen by 10,479 people. There was also extensive local & national coverage online; on radio and in the print media

Cork City Heritage Plan

Final round of consultation completed and analysed Evaluation of previous Heritage Plan, analysis of KPI and recommendations completed Draft of Cork City Heritage Plan nearly completed. Will be ready for 2 nd round of public consultation for November

Climate Action Unit Update

Following the first meeting of the internal executive Climate Action Team at the end of August 2020, all Directorates participated in providing progress reports on actions within the Climate Change Adaptation Strategy 2019-2024. These actions (which each Directorate are responsible for delivering) are being collated by the Climate Action Unit to provide a progress report to Department during Q4 2020 and will be disseminated to all the relevant stakeholders.

Planning Policy Unit-Development Plan

The Planning Policy Section is currently reviewing the almost 400 written submissions received in relation to the Cork City Development Plan Review Issues Paper. A report will be prepared and presented to the Elected Members over the coming weeks.

Local Enterprise Offices (LEO) The Local Enterprise Office, Cork City, has implemented a variety of business supports during the current pandemic: Trading Online Voucher Scheme Under the Government’s National Digital Strategy, the expanded Trading Online Voucher Scheme helps small businesses with up to 10 employees to trade more online, boost sales and reach new markets. There is up to €2 ,500 available through the Local Enterprise Offices with co-funding of 10% from the business. These are all subject to eligibility and funding availability

361 trading online vouchers have been approved to date with many more in the application or assessment phase.
