Heritage Unit

Heritage Community and Publication Grants

An assessment of Heritage Community and Publication Grants took place. Recommendations for 27 community grants were made, each grant is valued from €200 to €1000 per grant application. 3 publication grants were awarded on topics such as Processions and Parades in Cork City 1898-1932, History of Neptune Basketball 1947- Present and Newspapers in Cork during the Irish Revolution. The total allocated was €11,000

Heritage Plan

Consultation commenced for new the Cork City Heritage Plan, the heritage officer engaged with met representatives from new areas, statutory groups, Councillors and members of staff, and an online portal for public to make submissions was established. Advertisement for the process took place amongst heritage groups, various organisations and the Cork City Council's social media unit

Cork City Development Plan 2022-2928

Preparatory work on the new Cork City Development Plan is underway. An Issues Paper which looks at some of the key issues for the future development of the city is well advanced. Other background work including a City Land Capacity Study to identify land with development potential in the city is also in preparation. The first stage public consultation on the new City Plan which is due to start in mid-April but is likely to be delayed due to Covid-19, however, work is advancing on the promotional material for the consultation process.
