City-Wide Trauma Awareness, Sensitivity and Healing Through Relationships

Phase 1: -Review of extant literature in the field, globally and in Ireland. – 2019-2022 • Review and reflect on the emerging evidence on Trauma-sensitive cities, paying particular attention to approaches taken in Plymouth, Lancashire, Manchester Chicago, and Tarpon Springs • To work in collaboration with communities and agencies to inform models of good practice in becoming trauma-aware, Trauma-sensitive, trauma responsive and trauma informed. • Identifying key indicators of trauma-sensitive cities - 2022 Phase 2: - Research design based on the findings of Phase 1 – 2021-2022 • Working in partnership with key stakeholders, such as local government, education, health, youth and justice, to develop a bespoke Trauma-sensitive approach model that is culturally sensitive for Cork City • To ensure the voice of lived experience is respected, valued, and placed at the centre of trauma-sensitive practice. • Development of bespoke Framework Model for Cork City - 2022 Phase 3 – Implementation -2022-2025 • Information session for senior management of organisations and HR • Train trauma champions who will support, implement and sustain trauma-sensitive approaches within their organisation • Pledge from key stakeholders across different sectors in Cork City, to sign up to principles of trauma- sensitive approach by embedding trauma-sensitive policy and protocols with their organisation • Offer bespoke training, which is self-evaluated, to ensure ongoing assessment, monitoring and tracking of the effectiveness of the training • Development of a Community of Practice (CoP) which will support collaboration and learning across sectors Phase 4 – Evaluation of Bespoke Cork City Trauma Lens/Model/ Framework – 2025 • Large-scale survey of the steering committee, service users and staff of essential services in Cork City • Post-intervention survey of the steering committee, service users and staff of essential services in Cork City • Interviews or surveys of policymakers in Cork City (Lord Mayor/ City Councillors/ City planners/CEOs TUSLA, CETB, etc.)
