CORK LEARNING CITY
Learning neighbourhoods is a part of learning cities where all types of learning are recognised and celebrated. The initiative was piloted in 2015, in Ballyphehane and Knocknaheeny. The success of these led to the expansion of the programme to Togher, Mayfield, The Glen, and South Parish. Through the programme, local neighbourhoods form their own coordination groups that celebrate existing learning as well as provide new learning opportunities. Working with residents, organisations, and businesses in the area to provide fun and diverse learning opportunities, the diversity of the neighbourhoods is reflected in the rich mix of events and activities that take place each year. Ballyphehane/Togher Community Development Partnership (CDP) in partnership with Ballyphehane Learning Neighbourhoods wish to celebrate all who have helped the community to navigate through difficult times, all the spaces and places that the community have gravitated towards to find comfort and support. A large outdoor community gathering is planned together with ceremonial planting of Cherry Trees across the community so that our Festival is both sustaining and sustainable.
