Amongst perceived requirements for enterprise and employment are Training and Mentoring and Apprenticeships 3.1.2 Qualitative survey feedback Several respondents identified the need to provide skills for older people (e.g. digital and IT), younger people (life skills) and to improve skillsets in volunteers, especially in the area of sustainability. Providing language learning skills for migrants was identified as an important integration tool by one respondent to question 11. There was a call for more training workshops to help the unemployed get back into the workplace in areas of high unemployment, and for training and job opportunities to be accessible to single parents. One respondent called for investment in “the arts and young people” and another cited the digital arts as an area of strategic economic potential. In relation to culture and in response to question 3 one respondent called for the creation of “a placemaking centre that would showcase the rich heritage of the area, rekindle local pride and enable non-nationals to meet their new community and share their culture and heritage”. “In my area there are a lot of single parents and if we were to come together, we could probably support one another better but instead I feel we’re just being segregated minding our own business.”
